WSU’s annual Mom’s Weekend brought some pop singer-songwriters most recent stars to the Pullman college for all moms, daughters, and students to enjoy.
Opening up the concert in the spacious Beasley Coliseum was American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze. With his country songs and small band of drums and keys, DeWyze got the crowd excited immediately. With bright yellow and orange lights along with his bright lyrics, he lit up the entire venue. Playing songs off his most recent record Live it Up which was released after winning American Idol in May 2010, it was a great performance to open for the headliner. WSU sure enjoyed their rare opportunity to get to see an American Idol winner live.
Headlining the Mom’s Weekend concert was Grammy Award winning artist Colbie Caillat. The stage stood all dark with heavy blue lights shining down with the crowd getting eager to see the performance they had been waiting. Through the curtain in the middle of the stage out walked Colbie Caillat, and the applause and cheers began to fill the stadium. It only took one song before people in the crowd had gotten on their feet and were dancing to Caillat’s hit songs “The Little Things”, “Bubbly”, and “Realize”. Performing for an hour in front of WSU moms and students brought an end to the concert. The crowd left in mood of happiness from the uplifting lyrics of Colbie Caillat’s songs and performance.

AWESOME pictures and FANTASTIC artists!
I would’ve LOVED to have been there!
That’s sweet, Logan!
I’m going to be honest… I thought Colbie Caillat was black.
